The holidays are a wonderful time, but there are some dreaded aspects for all of us as well. How about buying that gift for the person who either has everything or is moving ? All the torturous thought and shopping that goes into that persons gift that amounts to more stress than everyone elses gifts put together. So frustrating Is there hope of finding that gift at all?

Sandy was one such person. She found it very hard to buy for her son in law, Greg, who was wealthy and had practically everything he desired already. He even had a self storage unit full of things that he was storing for future use that he could not fit into his house presently. Sandy always found it so difficult to shop for her son in law that she always felt horrible after he opened his gift boxes , feeling that it was not something he liked or needed, or perhaps even something he already had, put away in his storage unit in the back yard.

One Christmas, while putting things into her self storage unit , Sandy decided she would simply have to think outside the boxes . She began thinking ahead of time to what Greg and others in her life that were hard to shop for, had going on in their lives. She asked herself if there were major life events, hobbies, or even planned trips or vacations in the lives of those she found difficult to buy for. When she began to think of these things, she began to see ideas forming in her head. She knew that Greg, in particular, was planning a trip to Chicago with his family at the beginning of the New Year and from that event alone she came up with several ideas, such as a trip planner book, moving supplies , a detailed map of Chicago marking all the hot spots to go, etc.

Sandy also realized that if she waited until the last minute, like she sometimes tended to do with her Christmas shopping and self storage unit , she would never have any hope of finding something that Greg and even others did not have stored away in their own storage unit somewhere and was therefore unnecessary to them. She began looking for gifts throughout the whole year, and if she saw something that was on sale in July and she thought it would be a great gift for someone, she bought it then and there and simply put it in her own storage unit until time to get it out and wrap it for Christmas in six months time.

Sandy, like many of us, did not have huge amounts of money to spend on her Christmas gifts for everyone or a very large self storage unit , so she began coming up with a list of things that were either inexpensive or cost no money whatsoever. For her daughter, she offered a homemade coupon giving her five free days of babysitting, washing, ironing or cleaning. Sandys husband, Ray, gave a homemade coupon to their son as well offering to help remodel their bathroom for any three days of his choice, as Sandy and Ray already knew their son was planning on doing this and would likely need help. These things gave them the opportunity of spending some quality time with their children and grandchildren while also allowing them to save a lot of money in Christmas gifts.

Sandy soon realized that thinking creatively gave her a whole set of new ideas for gifts that could not be found in anyones self storage unit .
