You can give yourself access to belongings that you will need in the near future, or you can organize your furniture in such a way that you can move out more easily. 

My conceit, here, is simple, self service may require that you do a bit more work, but it gives you the ultimate control over how your belongings are treated. Moving companies can be a great luxury, but many people will enjoy the luxury of micromanaging their own projects.

All of have collections. I, as you know, collect books and video games. Though neither of the two would seemingly take up too much space around the house, you would be surprised. When a DVD collection hits three hundred items, and when you have more books than you could ever hope to fit on one shelf, you begin to feel a bit pressed for space. Luckily, though, I have a sizable closet and plenty of space for a few extra shelves. What few items I could not shelve, I have boxed and placed in our utility closet.

One of my other roommates has a rather sizable music collection vinyl and CDs. Like me, he is a bit pressed for space. Also like me, he has figured out a way to make use of our household self storage. He, too, stores many of his CDs and records in our utility closet.  Really, you would take one look at this closet and think that we ran a store out of our home. His room is big enough for several shelves, which house the remainder of his collection.
