I hope everyone out there got all of their wishes fullfilled over Christmas. I think the retail madness aspect of things has really caused us to lose sight on just what the holiday means, no matter what religion you happen to practice. Just letting your loved ones know how much you care makes the day worth celebrating. I wish everyone enough happiness to fill thousands of boxes .
On my way to work today, driving through the snow and muck, I passed by several storage facilites . Even in this horrible weather, I saw people at their units at three different places. I am not sure if it was bad planning or bad luck that these people had to be out in the weather, but I hope they had a happy holiday.
I am A firm believer in fake Christmas trees. I hate the thought of a tree being cut down, just for a months worth of use. There is nothing sadder than the sight of all those trees, laid out at the curb for pickup, lonely and forgotten, with a few tendrils of tinsel still stubbornly hanging on. If a person has enough household storage , it is better to invest in a fake tree to reuse every year.
No matter how much you think you know, there is always something that comes along that can teach you a thing or two. The same goes for selling storage . We are having some training sessions right now, and it could not have come at a better time. I am up for anything that will help me help my callers.
I spent most of my two days off cleaning out closets and cabinets. I found some old clothes I had been saving for whenever I lost any weight and could fit back into them again. Unfortunately, they are all long out of date, so off to the Goodwill they went. I actually emptied one whole closet and two cabinets. Lots more room for property storage now.
My aunt is a huge fan of estate auctions, and it seems her hobby had paid off. Recently, she went to one and bought some artwork by an artist who had been a local in their day. The lady who had them kept them in long term storage and had actually forgotten they were there. Everything together appraised for a couple of thousand, and my aunt had paid about a hundred dollars.
It is always a good idea to save all the boxes from any Christmas gifts you get for a while to make sure you do not have to do any returns. It is very tempting in the midst of chaos and wrapping paper to want to just gather everything up and toss it away. But, returns are always easier if you have the original packaging.
I am really proud of my husband since he has decided to quit smoking. I know it will be a battle for him and he will turn into the devil himself before it is all done. I will do my best to make things easier by putting anything that would trigger a nicotine craving into temporary storage until he has willpower built up.
It is a little disappointing when I talk to a caller during the day, and I have the exact storage space they are looking for with a really great deal as well, but they say they will call me back in a few days. Then when they finally do call back, the unit has already been taken. If only they had reserved the first day, they would have saved themselves alot of time and money.
So now that Christmas is upon us, we have been getting calls from folks needing a storage unit for their Christmas presents. I never thought of that as an option for this time of year. You can bet that any nosy family members who have a hard time waiting for surpirises will not find where those gifts are hidden.
