I talked to a guy today who was shopping around for car storage. They were moving to the area and had just purchased an new vehicle but they didn't want it to be stuck in a parking lot or street while they were shopping around for a house. He wanted car storage for a few months to keep his brand new car shiny and perfect until it had a garage to take over. I thought it was really good idea. If you pay the money for such a nice new vehicle, then why not pay the money to keep it nice and new in storage.
Brittnay Murphy died this morning as a result of a heart attack. It's so sad because she was so young and such a great actress. I've received many calls before from people who need storage because their loved ones have passed away. Fortunately, I've never been in that situation but I imagine it has to be very difficult. It's nice to know that I have the information and skills to help someone who has to go through this, and get a storage unit as quickly and smoothly as possible. Hopefully it helps them out even just a little.
I need to find a safe storage space to keep my keys, because for the life of me I can not keep track of them! Today was the ultimate disappearing act. I had my whole key ring in my jacket pocket, and I had my jacket over at my friends house last night. Today when we got up, poof! It was gone, and it's just my luck. So since I couldn't find my keys I tried to find my spare, but that would be just too easy wouldn't it. So with no keys, and no spare key I had to get a new car key made today for $10.74. It took 5 hours to accomplish this as I had to get AAA to unlock my car so I could get my license and proof of ownership. Let's just say it was a great end to the semester, and I think I'm actually most sad about lose my jacket!
Christmas shopping can be a lot of fun when you know exactly who youre shopping for and what you want to get them. I love being able to give gifts to the people I care about. This year I feel like shopping is going to be difficult because there's quite a few people I want to get gifts for. I remember when I was little we used to go shopping like a month or two before and put things on layaway at the store. Then we would go pick it up before the holiday and wrap all of the gifts. They would keep all of the layaway items in a big storage container in the back of the building. It was always funny seeing those containers get dropped off. Every year I think they added a few more.
Yesterday must have been my lucky day. I got to sleep for almost thirteen hours. Definitely needed because I dont get a lot of sleep during the week. Then, I left my car on Broadway Street from Wednesday night until noon today, and did not get a single ticket. I think it was too cold for the meter maids to be out and about, thank you mother nature. Its a good thing they didn't haul my car off to an impound storage space . All in all, it was a successfully lazy Thursday. In fact, I think I'll do it again next week.
So winter break is coming up in two weeks, yay. Im so ready to be done with school, but Im not excited for everyone to go home. Im also not excited because I have to move out of the sorority house for winter break. Were only allowed to use our closets as storage space , so that means I have to pretty much move everything out. Luckily, I dont have to travel back home out of state since my mom lives here, but I know a lot of other girls who have a couple hours of a drive are getting storage units to keep their things in. Were lucky Columbia has so many storage facilities to accomodate all of the students in this college town.
The holidays are a busy time for everyone. Family gatherings, vacations, end of school and holiday shopping its no wonder people arent really thinking about storage at the moment. No one wants to move in the cold weather, and that is totally understandable. But with the holiday shopping in mind, people should really be thinking about where they are going to store their old things and make way for their new gifts. There are some great specials going on a the moment and it would be smart to get a storage unit so you dont have to worry about it when the time comes.
I recently wrote a short article about holiday lights around mid-Missouri. I contacted multiple places with prominant light displays and also smaller towns with traditional light displays. Some of these places have millions of lights set-up, and hundreds of feet of extension cords. They must have a heck of a storage space to keep all of those supplies safe. I imagine they have climate controlled storage so the light bulbs and expensive scenery is kept safe at all times.
Recently I had the opportunity to drive a 28 foot moving truck . I always thought it would be the hardest thing to be driving something so big, but it really wasn't too bad. We had one for about two weeks to move around some props and things we built, and in the past the boys always drove the truck. This year, they didn't want to, so my friend Mel and I drove it all over Columbia and even to Jefferson City. It was the funniest thing when we would pull up to red lights, people would glance into the cab expecting some big burly guy to be behind the wheel, and then they would see us.
Late at night my friends and I like to go to the diner sometimes for a big, late night breakfast. When weve been moving all day and night its nice to fall into a booth and just savor every bite of home cooked biscuits and gravy, eggs and buttery pancakes. The diner is a fun hang out too because you always see people you know. The best part is, its cheap too. Writing about this is making me hungry.
