When Garrett joined the Army he was following a family tradition. His grandfather and father had all served and he has known since he was young that he was going to join as well. When it was his eighteenth birthday he and his dad went down to the recruiters office and he signed up for service in the United States Army.

At the end of the summer he was headed off to boot camp and then he would receive his assignment. When he was getting ready to leave he wanted to find a place to store his truck while he was gone. He had bought a truck when he was sixteen and he and his father had been fixing it up for the past few years. He wanted a safe place to keep it while he was gone that was out of the way.
