Long Term or Short Term
Long term storage and cheap storage should not necessarily go hand in hand. When you are storing your belongings for a long period of time, you should always, ALWAYS be sure that your priorities are set straight further, that the storage facility you choose is going to be able to satisfy those priorities over a long period of time.
Let us say that you are storing a lot of temperature sensitive belongings. Further, let us say that your belongings are only sensitive to high temperatures e.g. wax candles. You could, for the winter months, store your belongings in a standard, non climate controlled storage unit. Chances are that you will not have many problems doing this. When the spring and summer months come rolling in, though, you may forget to remove your belongings from the storage unit. You may, in this case, end up with a 10x20 that is half filled with melted candle wax.
What I have found, time and time again, is that you should simply go with the right unit from the start. Do not worry about cheap storage if you are storing your items on a long term basis worry about finding the right unit from the start. Nobody wants to have to worry about moving again as the seasons change about renting another truck, unloading one unit and loading another, and losing yet another weekend to chores. Do yourself a tremendous favor and make sure that your priorities are met from the very beginning. No long term worries means no more stress, and the absence of stress makes for a better life.
