furniture storage

When storing furniture, it is important to keep in mind various factors, such as the age of the furniture. Antique and precious furniture should always be stored in a climate and humidity controlled facility, to preserve the integrity of the wood. It should also be padded, to avoid scratching of the legs and table tops, and covered with dust cloths before closing up the unit.

Furniture storage should also take into account the type of furniture being stored, such as mattresses and box springs. Storage is easiest if you put mattresses and box springs into specially made airtight zippered bags. this keeps insects and mold and mildew from ruining them.  Laying the mattresses and box springs flat could allow moisture to be trapped underneath, so you should always store mattresses and box springs up against a wall, rather than flat.

Using proper padding is imperative to prevent nicks, scratches and dents from occurring.  sometimes the contents of a storage unit can settle, causing unforeseen accidents and damage if the furniture is not properly covered.

Safe storage is entirely possible. It just requires a little bit of foresight and planning. Using bubble wrapping, soft, thick cloths and as much padding as needed will insure that your furniture storage experience does not leave you disappointed.
