There are different methods when it comes to boat storage. Each winter, tens of thousands of boating enthusiasts across the United States have to make the decision about what to do with their boat during the cold, winter off season. Face it, most people do not have the garage space to house their boat. Marina boat storage is very costly, and many recreational boaters simply cannot afford year round marina access.
Many people choose to use the side of their house as a boat storage location, throwing a tarp over their watercraft and hoping for the best. However, raccoons, squirrels and other animals can still get up underneath the tarp looking for warmth and shelter, and the boat is still accessible to would be vandals. Choosing to store your watercraft in a tried and true boat storage facility is probably the best out of all of the storage solutions. True, there is a monthly storage fee involved, but at least you will know that your boat will be stored inside, and out of the elements. Many of these storage facilities use a giant shrink wrapping machine to wrap your boat in plastic, further sealing it for the winter. While there are some outdoor storage facilities for boats, they usually are covered, at least and the boats are wrapped or covered with a tarp.
After spending so much money on a boat, people are likely to go the extra mile and be sure that their investment is secured and stored properly for the winter.
