StorPlace of Madison, Tennessee is the premier self storage business in the 37115 zip code. A full service location offering units large enough for RV storage and small enough for furniture storage, StorPlace combines the modern features of national self storage with the personal feel of a locally-owned business. Having served customers in the Nashville area for over 30 years, we understand the character of Madison and have come to know many of our customers personally.

Madison, TN, is a growing suburb just northeast of Nashville that is attracting a new segment of younger people who work in its medical industry and in the service sector. A number of recent development projects have resulted in some upscale apartment and condominium enclaves where the newer demographic has settled. The influx of young singles in their 20s and early 30s has made for a colorful nightlife in Madison. Bars and clubs serve up food and live music at night, while the streets are busy with activity during the day. Madison is a diverse locale, with distinct populations of European-Americans, African Americans and Hispanics. Many of the businesses are locally owned and operated, giving the community a personal feel not often achieved in a suburban area. While growing, Madison has not lost its history. It is now under the umbrella of the Nashville city government and the Davidson County government, but at one time, it was its own legal entity, and as a result retains its own individuality as a town. Madison has a combination of modern areas and country lanes. The Rivergate Mall area, where StorPlace is located, has the modern conveniences common to suburban neighborhoods, while the older residential areas are marked by winding, tree-lined streets and grassy parks, as well as family-owned restaurants and stores. Just outside of town, the Laurel Valley Speedway has become a stepping stone for stock car racers with aspirations to race in NASCAR events.

Madison was originally chartered as Madison Station, TN because it was home to a train depot called Amqui station, once owned by Johhny Cash and now in the process of being restored and made into a museum.  Route 31, a multi-lane road that passes through the center of the area, was once a simple bison trail traveled by the famous long hunters Thomas Sharpe “Big Foot” Spencer and Kasper Mansker. Another road, Old Hickory Blvd. or Route 45, was part of the “Trail of Tears,” which was the path walked by the Cherokee Indians during their expulsion form North Carolina to the large reservation in what is now Oklahoma. President Andrew Jackson ordered the removal of the Cherokee in 1838, and the trail passes by his estate, The Hermitage, in nearby Old Hickory, TN. Madison is also the home of the Nashville National Cemetery.

StorPlace Rivergate is at 2360 Gallatin Rd, just south of Rivergate Mall. Gallatin runs all the way to East Nashville and east of Madison through Hendersonville. With the Cumberland River and Old Hickory Lake running through the area, Madison is a water sports delight. Boat storage is available at StorPlace year round. In fact we have units that will accommodate RV storage and boat storage for those who travel with both during part of the year, but who need self storage for the rest of the year. Boat storage is one of the most common uses for self storage, since boats often take too much room in the yard and won’t fit in the garage. Another common use along the same lines is car storage, since a collectible car such as an old Corvette or Mustang stays in much better condition when stored inside, but there is often no room at home for it.

Madison is part of the greater Nashville area. A community with growing families, Madison residents often need extra space for furniture storage. Antique heirlooms and roll top desks should be safely stored rather than thrown into a damp and dusty basement. Nothing will crack fine furniture faster than a leaky basement, or warp wood more quickly than high humidity. We have the latest security equipment, and our multi-level storage buildings are clean, dry and well lit. Potential burglars tend to avoid a location with a lot of light. A dark less frequented space seems to be an easier mark. Good lighting in addition to an electronic gate around the grounds keeps criminals away from your precious items. We have a variety of different sized units from the smallest, a 5x5 area, to RV storage and automobile storage spaces. Our popular 10x5 garage fits an amazing 100 average size boxes! You can fit your appliances and the contents of a one bedroom apartment in a 10x10 unit. Car storage requires a slightly larger space.

There are many businesses right near the Rivergate/Madison location, as well as the ubiquitous national chains. One of the nice things about Madison is that it provides all the modern conveniences associated with consumer society, but still offers localized color of family owned shops. The area right around StorPlace is more modern. Rivergate Mall is on the other side of Gallatin Rd. It has over one million square feet of stores and restaurants and is centered around Macys, Dillards, sears and J.C. Penny. Other stores include the Bombay Company, Linens & Things and Victoria’s Secret. Eat at the Bourbon Street Café if you are hungry or set out for American Outfitters and Abercrombie & Fitch for some hip clothes. For the kids, there is the Disney Store. Immediately adjacent to StorPlace Madison is Hallmark Dodge-VW-Hyundai. There you can pick up the new VW GLI or Toureg and put your classic MG convertible or Mazda Miata into car storage. Hyundai is a car company on the rise. The introduction of its new model Sonata in 2006 set the auto world abuzz with its low price and high construction quality. Although not quite ready to compete with the likes of Honda and Toyota, its lower price has enticed many happy drivers. In any case, you can put your grandmother’s oak armoire into furniture storage then go next door and take a test drive on a new family hauler like a Dodge Caravan. Today’s minivans have more features than ever. The Caravan features a pop up table in the second row so that kids can play cards or read or eat while in the car. Video screens in the back of the front seat headrests make for quiet long journeys. Cargo space is bigger than ever, making hauling an efficient process.

Some local businesses on Gallatin Rd. include Woody’s Restaurant, a casual lunch and dinner stop, IHOP (we all know what that stands for), and Giant Subs Inc. When you’re really hungry, stop by the Home Town Buffet and eat to your heart’s content. Old favorites like chicken fried steak, pot roast, mashed potatoes, corn are plentiful. To put a hop in your step, grab some hot sauce and tacos at Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. Of course, in Tennessee, one should never forget about barbecue food, and both Central Point Barbecue and Dickey’s Hickory Pit serve up some of the best. For beer and a burger, make your way over to Rafferty’s Restaurant and bar. Sit, relax, eat and have a good time.

Self storage can be an important part of your life. There’s no need to cram your house and garage with unused furniture, tools or sporting gear. Rent some furniture storage and clean out the basement so you can finish off and have extra living space at home. Imagine a 12x20 foot room downstairs for your big screen tv, or for the kids’ recreational area. Put your boat in self storage and make room in the garage for your car. Remember, it’s not just the boat, it’s the fishing poles, gas tanks and other paraphernalia that fills up your garage. And at StorPlace Madison, self storage has never been easier. We have a great staff of  local folks who are guaranteed to shake your hand  and welcome you each time you come to our facility. Our staff also understands self storage. Each individual situation is different. There’s no reason to get a larger unit when a smaller one will do. Tell us what you want to store and we will find a solution for you. Our toll free phone number is 1-877-4STORPL. Call to speak to one of our associates and get started. If you are wondering where to get boxes and packing tape for your move, look no further than your local StorPlace office.
